Dusseldorf, continued

Note: with this entry, I am now all caught up from not having available internet. Hopefully I'll be able to blog in real time going forward.

Location: Dusseldorf, Germany.

After a late night last night, we woke up around 1pm today. We ventured out of the hotel to grab some lunch in the Altstadt, or old city. Because of the sheer number of bars on this street, this is sometimes referred to as the "Longest Bar in the World". We got to see that the previous night.

On the way back, we passed by the Konigsallee. This is the 5th Avenue of Dusseldorf, with big name fashion designer stores lining a street with an stream running through the middle. I'm not so into high fashion, so I snapped a photo of the stream instead:

After this, we went back to the hotel. Ben decided he wanted to get some rest, so I decided to head to the Schloss Benrath. This is a nice park in southern Dusseldorf. Its centerpiece is a mansion built for Karl Theodor, the Prince-Elector and Count of Electoral Palatine during the waning days of the Holy Roman Empire. It is a very beautiful building, and the surrounding gardens are also amazing. The building houses three different museums today; a Museum of Natural History, a Museum for European Garden Art, and the Corps de Logis, which gives a look at life in a palace court. I did not get to the park until after the museums closed, but there was enough to see in the park itself that it didn't really matter. I took a lot of photos here, and I definitely recommend stopping by for anyone who goes to Dusseldorf:

We were both very tired, so we decided to turn in early tonight. We'll be heading into Cologne tomorrow for the day, and later that night, we'll be on a plane for Istanbul, Turkey.
